Raising Boys...the tame pictures...

Alex and I are raising boys...if you haven't noticed.
Or should I say, herding cats???Wild hyenas perhaps??? I don't have girls, but oh boy are these boys a handful! And yes, I know the female young versions of my little men  can just about make you batty as well but there is something distinctly different about boy energy, I think.....I often wonder how a little girl or two instead of or in addition to boys would change the dynamic. And then another BLAST of energy...or food....or dinosaur comes barreling towards me and my thoughts about just about EVERYTHING are gone...and so goes raising boys.

So, I'll have more thoughts in 10 or so years, perhaps even profound thoughts about my experiences raising boys. But for now, well, lets just say I'm completely overwhelmed and impressed with little boy energy. Good and Bad. We'll see what another decade of maturity and family evolution will do to my thoughts....

I love your energetic little ones. I hope my little man shows the same spark. Boys are a rough and tumble bunch, they would wear me out in 2mins but at least I'd have my baby weight gone :) Julia has these rough emotionally needy days where she can't deal with anything, there is Nothing the sour puss wants to do. I find those days mentally exhausting which guides me to the cookie jar of simple pleasures.

Ha Deborah, as I read this I'm eating my THIRD skinny cow of the night. I too am a stress eater and I've only recently got most of the baby weight off but have also just done a ton of time on my bike! But here I eat ;-) hang in there, thus too shall pass, as I tell myself....

Hey! What is it about us rowers and the stress eating?!?! Any correlation or is it personality type? hummm...Shall I say ME TOO! Me too...with my mouth full of chocolate no wheat cookies?!?! MMMMM!

As for those boys vs girls....you for sure have it right Katie. There is something inherently different about grils and boys. There are good poins and bad with both. The age 3 and 4 have been tough with both sexes, but in a different way. Until now, I have never had a kid tell they want to punch me in the face....though how much have I changed as a mom in all those years of girls and boys? Who knows what all the effects are over here...older sister's, mom's learning curve, knowing more families and kids now than I ever did before, the boys not being so close in age???

So much changes our dynamic. Though I do still think the big sisters can help with the crazy energy boy thing. They add a strange drama to the whole situation though. Not sure which is better, but it is what it is and here we are.

I think it's time to put all these littles together in one field again soon!
Hang in there mama! XOXO

Great points Sheelagh....so funny. At the end of all this child rearing we should write a book together. About kids and their ways...and former rower mothers and THEIR ways ;-) Or maybe not....yes, your littles, my littles, and a field (with yummy treats for the mamas...) coming soon...!
